Slow Cooker Old Fashioned Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

DH is working late tonight... So here I am at midnight already thinking about breakfast ;) I know I won't get much sleep tonight, so I figured why not make something now that we can all wake up to. Bonus for being healthy :)

INGREDIENTS
  • 1.5 cups Old Fashioned Oatmeal (not the instant stuff!)
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 1/4 cups milk
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 large apple, sliced and diced
  • Pam spray
DIRECTIONS
  1. Spray slow cooker with Pam.
  2. Pour in all ingredients.
  3. Cook overnight on low.
  4. Mix well and enjoy!

mmmmmm it turned out pretty good! DD2 gobbled down a HUGE bowl, then wanted more! It ended up cooking for 8 hours before we dug in. Though it sat on low for another 3 hours before DH ate it (which was still good). The oatmeal seemed a little runny, but I think that next time I will add some dried cranberries. Since dried fruits suck up liquid in this recipe, I'll keep the same amounts of water and milk.

Mmm I love oatmeal from the crockpot. I often throw some steel-cut oats and water in a crockpot at night so we have oatmeal ready and waiting in the morning.
